The Mesa Prevention Alliance, in partnership with community partners including Klaus Team Cares, distributed 1,323 backpacks at their 5th annual Back to School event that welcomed 1,823 youth and adults.

In addition to the school supplies, they distributed 60 computers, provided over 100 haircuts, and completed 22 dental screenings – all free of charge.

The importance of a high-quality education for a healthy economy and community is paramount, but when you consider also the issues confronting at-risk youth, it is more important than ever to insure that they have all of the tools necessary to start the school year strong and increase their potential to succeed at the highest of levels.

The East Mesa community took part in donating backpacks and school supplies throughout the spring and early summer, dropping them off at the Klaus Team office and at locations such as Community Bridges to meet the need. All of the supplies were donated by community members and local businesses or non-profits.

The 2026 event is already being planned.
